National said the Minister's to blame in holding up an America's Cup base decision.
The economic development spokesman Simon Bridges said Minister David Parker's deliberately gone against the grain in his bid to reinvestigate the Wynyard Point option.
He said officials are just too polite to tell him he's wasting time.
"Everything I'm seeing makes quite clear that council officers, councillors, including the Mayor, Government officials, all are backing up for one option, and David Parker is dragging the chain around another one."
He wants the Government to hurry along with making a choice.
Bridges said the timeframe was tight when he was Minister, and based on his advice he'd have needed to make a decision well before Christmas.
He said we might not have the time to deliver a world class event and we need to do that to get the bang for our buck.
"Get on and make a decision. Provide the certainty so that the planning, the design, the consenting, the building work can be done in time, so that there's a good competent America's Cup base and an America's Cup being run in Auckland."
