Kiwi sprinter Zoe Hobbs just missed out on a spot in her first ever 100m final at the World Athletics Championship.
Hobbs started strong in Budapest before finishing fourth in the second semifinal, in a time of 11.02 seconds. She missed out on a spot in the final by one hundredth of a second, finishing with the 10th best time. A personal best would have earned Hobbs a finals place.

Connor Bell finished 10th in the men’s discus final throwing 63.23m, more than five metres short of the medals and 8.23m shy of winner Daniel Stahl of Sweden. Eliza McCartney, Olivia McTaggart and Imogen Ayris all failed to qualify for the women’s pole vault final while Portia Bing missed the 400m hurdles final after falling in her semifinal race.
