A decision on the future of greyhound racing in New Zealand now won't be made until after the election.
Media outlet Newsroom reports the government's got no clear date before October.
Animal rights group SAFE says nearly 1500 dogs have been injured and 13 killed in New Zealand since September 2021.
Campaigns Manager Anna de Roo claims the delay will leave greyhounds very exposed.
Roo says they feel betrayed by the government.Â
She says Racing Minister Kieran McAnulty said either greyhound racing would continue under strict monitoring or the industry would be closed.
