The Opportunities Party is folding.
The party founded by economist Gareth Morgan got 2.4 percent of the vote at the last election.
Dr Morgan says he has no doubt they had the best policies on offer but he says when 20 percent of the vote moves simply on the back of a leadership change, as it did with Labour, with no improvement in policy, it's clear that's what makes the voter tick.
He says TOP was formed to improve the policy options on offer.
The party tried unsuccessfully to recruit Northland doctor Lance O'Sullivan to lead the party.
