The country's new online vaccination register won't be ready in time for the first Covid jabs being rolled out to frontline workers on Saturday.

NZ Herald reports there'll be an interim solution instead - as the country gears up for the largest vaccination programme in our history.

The Health Ministry says the complete version of the new National Immunisation Solution needs to be thrashed over the coming months.

A cut-down option will take its place for now - including a planned feature allowing Kiwis to access their own immunisation records online.

Officials have been working with heavy-hitters Salesforce and Amazon Web Services to develop the cloud-based software.

The vaccinators charged with immunising border workers from Saturday will get their own first dose tomorrow.

60,000 doses of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine arrived in New Zealand on Mondau.
