The National Party is putting forward Parmjeet Parmar as its candidate for the Mt Roskill by-election.
Ms Parmar is currently a list member of parliament, after being elected at the last election.
She said she's excited to be running and that the election is about ensuring the people of Mt Roskill have a dedicated local MP.
Ms Parmar is promising to run a strong campaign to offer a clear choice to voters, saying it's a fantastic opportunity for her to talk about the issues people care about.
She'll go head to head with Labour's Michael Wood when the electorate's voters go to the polls on December 3.
It's not her first shot at the seat - she stood there at the last election finishing second to Labour's Phil Goff by over 8000 votes.
