Mount Albert voters will have plenty of choices for their next MP with 13 candidates seeking election.
Two current list MPs are seeking to be elected as an electorate representative.

Jacinda Ardern is running for Labour and Julie Anne Genter for the Green Party.

National is not running a candidate in the Feburary 25 by-election which was called after Labour's David Shearer left politics in December to head United Nations peace keeping missions in South Sudan.

The Opportunities Party, founded by millionaire philanthropist Gareth Morgan, revealed earlier on Wednesday that their chief of staff Geoff Simmons would contest the seat.

Four independents, the Communist League, Socialist Party, Cannabis Party, NAP, New Zealand People's Party and Human Rights Party round out the ballot.

"Now that nominations have closed, we can start to print and distribute ballot papers ready for the start of advance voting," chief electoral officer Alicia Wright said on Wednesday.

Four early voting places will be open ahead of the vote.
