Laila Harré is stepping down from the Internet Party, but won't rule out a return to politics by another route.

The party is currently conducting a review of its election defeat, and Ms Harré has announced this morning she'll step down once it's complete.

She told TV3's 'The Nation' it's up to the party what form it takes next, but she's confident her own political career isn't finished.

"Rumours of my political career being over have circulated many times over the last 15 years. Look, I would love to be in Parliament."

She says she doesn't know what'll happen to the party next.

"It could be wound up, the capacity that we've built...look we've had massive engagement on our policy development platforms."
