EQC is vowing to fix thousands of homes with building compliance issues as part of the Canterbury earthquake repairs.
It comes after a government review unearthed significant shortcomings with the quality of underfloor repairs.
EQC will begin checking the files of over 3500 houses, with around 1200 expected to need repairs.
That's around five-percent of almost 70,000 in the home repairs programme.
It believes most repairs will be relatively minor.
The home owner won't be covering the cost.
EQC Chief executive Ian Simpson says it'll start auditing jack and pack repairs, where floor re-levelling was done across the entire house with specialist technical input.
