Television personality Helena McAlpine has died after a long battle with breast cancer.

The 38 year old hosted a show on music channel C4, before being diagnosed with cancer in 2009.

McAlpine moved to New Zealand at the age of 22 after marrying a Kiwi she met in Europe.

Tributes to the young woman have filled her Facebook page, with one friend saying "The world is a far less amazing place tonight."
