Rail's getting a significant boost.
Just over $1 billion has been committed to planned KiwiRail network investments between next year and 2030.
Nearly $107 million is also going towards metropolitan rail infrastructure renewals, building on investment from the past two Budgets.
Rail Minister Winston Peters says New Zealanders invested blood, sweat and tears to build the national rail network, but previous Governments let it rot.
He says this Government’s putting New Zealanders’ rail assets to work once again.
