
A major investment of just over $2 billion will be pumped into the healthcare system over the coming year.
Included in the Budget is an average of $86 million each year to bolster hospital and specialist services through Health New Zealand.
Another $53 million goes to primary, community and public health, and $5.5 million to train 25 more doctors every year.
Funding is also being stumped up for increased security at emergency departments.
To cover costs, prescription co-payments scrapped by Labour are being brought back for people between 14 and 65-years-old.
A separate $1.1 billion is being invested into services, equipment and support for disabled people across five years.
