Bill to prevent underage marriages passes third reading

A bill which aims to prevent forced, underage marriage has passed its third reading in Parliament.

Now, 16 and 17-year-olds who want to marry will have to apply to the Family Court.

Until now, they've only needed parental consent.

It's hoped this will stop parents forcing children into potentially dangerous matrimony.
