Weather that forced the cancellation of more than 35 flights around New Zealand today will ease over the next few days, but the let-up won't last long.

The weather affected services at Tauranga, Rotorua, New Plymouth, Wellington, Blenheim and Queenstown airports.

Air New Zealand is continuing to monitor the conditions, and recommends that customers check the arrivals and departures page of its website for the latest information.

Rain is forecast to ease over the next few days - but the calm won't last long.

Another area of low pressure is expected to reach the country on Thursday, bringing further rain by the end of the week.
