Battery packs in the back of a ute went up in flames overnight, damaging another vehicle and the exterior of a home in one of Auckland’s richest suburbs.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said they were called to a Westmere property at 3am.
Grey Lynn and Auckland City crews arrived to find two vehicles in flames near a two-storey house.
A spokesperson later said two lithium-ion battery packs in the back of a ute failed and started the fire.
An electric vehicle next to the ute was fire damaged.

There were no injuries and a fire investigator has been called to the scene.
Correction: An earlier version of this story stated an electric vehicle fire damaged another vehicle. The electric battery packs in the back of a ute started the fire.
