A unique piece of artwork has been stolen from a West Auckland home.

The valuable artwork, titled Infinite Sea, was taken along with scrap metal and tools from a home in the Piha area on December 6.

The Waitematā West Tactical Crime Unit has been investigating the incident.

Detective Sergeant Anna Freestone described the stolen piece as round and made of glass, a mirror, LED lighting and PVC.

“It’s a distinctive piece of art and we’re asking anyone in the public who has information on its whereabouts to get in touch.

“It may be that this artwork has been offered up or advertised for sale, and we need to hear from you.”

Police have urged the public to come forward if they have any information by calling 105 using the reference number 251208/4801.

Information can also be given anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
