The Maori Party's new co-leader is raising fears state broadcaster TVNZ could become dominated by Pakeha views.
Marama Fox has spoken out about TVNZ's plans to outsource its Maori programming, a day after her selection as Tariana Turia's replacement.
She told TV One's Marae show outsourcing can make commercial sense, but there needs to be a continued Maori and Pacific presence at TVNZ.
She says she doesn't have a problem with the outsourcing of programmes to capable production companies.
But she says she is worried about TVNZ losing its cultural capacity.
Maori news programme Te Karere wouldn't be affected by the outsourcing plans.
