At least four and a half thousand unwanted gifts were added to Trade Me yesterday.
Trade Me spokesman Logan Mudge said they expect the number to keep growing as people look to cash-in on gifts not quite to their taste.
And if you're in need of knickers, look no further... Mudge said Boxing Day brings with it a spike in certain types of items, with socks and undies the ever-popular stocking stuffer that find seem to their way to Trade Me.
"I guess it's a brave move trying to buy the right pair of underwear and the buyer might have their own tastes in mind rather than the the recipient - so those can often end up on Trademe."
Mudge said alongside underwear and socks, babies clothes and women's clothing were also high on the list of unwanted gifts.
Mudge said it tends to be the personal items which may not be to the recipients' taste.
He said everyone has their own particular style, and it seems some of the ladies around New Zealand are being shopped for quite correctly on Christmas.
