A Bollywood Star will be returning to New Zealand, in order to promote the country as a holiday destination to India.

For 10 days in November, Sidharth Malhotra will be travelling round the country, and sharing his trip on social media.

Rebecca Ingraham, general manager of events at Tourism New Zealand, said Malhotra visited last year and engaged with nearly three million people on social media during the trip.

"He's going to be visiting a variety of different regions to the ones he visited last time," she said. "He's going to have some time in Auckland, Rotorua, Waikato and Canterbury."

Ingraham said India is a strong emerging market for tourism in New Zealand.

"In the last year, 25,000 Indians came here on holiday, and we'd like to grow that number, and we see Sidharth as a wonderful partner in showcasing the very best of what New Zealand has to offer."
