Three people have been injured - one critically - after a car crashed into a cafe on Auckland’s North Shore.
The single-vehicle crash was on William Souter St, near the East Coast Rd intersection, in Forrest Hill just before 9am.
Images from the scene show a hatchback that has crashed into the front glass window of the William Souter Espresso cafe.
A large police presence of about a dozen officers are at the scene, moving the public further and further away from the crash site.
Police confirmed one person was transported to hospital in a critical condition. Two other people have suffered moderate injuries and have also been transported to hospital.
“William Souter Street is closed between East Coast Rd and Morton Ave. The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance,” a police spokesperson said.
The crash occurred at a block of shops near the Pupuke Golf Course.
“Eight or ten police cars, several fire engines, multiple ambos”, one person wrote on reddit of the incident.
“Appears to be related to the small shopping strip.”
