Demolition is continuing at pace despite claims more people than first thought were living in 61 Molesworth Street.

Prime Property, the owner of the building, has already confirmed the Mape family was living in the office block when they shouldn't have been.

At the time, Wellington City Council believed there could be even more tenants, and latest reports claim just that.

Georgina Campbell is outside the building this morning, and described the high reach excavator tearing the building apart.

"Loose wires, piles of concrete and other rubble is scattered inside every floor."

"In amongst that are the Mape family's belongings, and probably the possessions of many other tenants who are reported to have been living in the commercial building."

The building was badly damaged in the earthquakes that took place in November.
