New Zealand's four oil companies are preparing themselves for 50 million litres of jet fuel which is now surplus to requirement.
The fuel arriving on Monday was purchased in response to the pending strike at the Marsden Point oil refinery in Northland, which has now been called off.
BP spokesman Jonty Mills says an industry supply group is currently working out the logistics of keeping the fuel within the industry supply chain.
Mr Mills says the shipment will be spread out between the refinery and various ports.
