The driver of a stolen car sped the wrong way down an Auckland motorway during a police chase in the early hours of this morning.
Police spotted the stolen Subaru entering the Southern Motorway at Khyber Pass around 3.30am.
When they tried to stop the vehicle, the male driver took the Market Road off-ramp, and then got back on the motorway by heading south down a northbound on-ramp.
He drove south in the northbound lanes at 110-kilometres an hour, before making a U-turn and heading north.
The driver drove the wrong way a roundabout at Ellerslie, before a police car forced him into the bushes and he was arrested fleeing on foot.
