
State Highway 5 in Hawke’s Bay has closed near Te Pōhue after a stock truck rolled, leaving one person with serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to the scene between Old Taupō Coach Rd and Palmer Rd at 2.15pm on Monday.
A police spokesperson said that one person is reported to have suffered serious injuries.
There are also injured stock at the scene.
“The road is blocked in both directions and motorists are advised to delay travel and avoid the area.”
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said four fire trucks were at the scene, and they were asked to contact a vet for cattle at the site.
NZTA advised the road is closed near the Old Taupo Coach Rd and has asked that motorists consider delaying journeys where possible as there is no viable detour.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said at 2.59pm they were en route with one helicopter and an ambulance.
