A Christchurch primary school went into lockdown this afternoon after a car hit two parked vehicles and an offender reportedly fled with a firearm.
Police were called to Rocking Horse Rd after a car collided with two parked vehicles, a spokeswoman said.
“It is reported the offender fled the scene with a firearm.”
South New Brighton School in Christchurch went into lockdown after the incident.
Police said there are no reported injuries.
“Police are making enquiries to identify and locate the offender,” a spokeswoman said.
“Cordons are in place, and members of the public are advised to avoid the area while enquiries are ongoing.”
The school has told NZME they are now no longer locked down.
It comes after a woman was shot in a suspected drive-by shooting in nearby Wainoni last night.
Police are still hunting the gunman.
It’s not clear yet if the two incidents are connected.
More to come.
