A search is underway for a ten-year-old boy who has been missing since 4pm in the Rangitikei town of Marton.

Kyle was last seen in the township, where he wandered away from a relative's house.

He is not familiar with the area and there are concerns for his safety.

Kyle is Caucasian, about 1.47 metres tall, of slim build, with short brown hair.

He is wearing blue track pants, a dark top and gumboots.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has relevant information.
