
A search is under way after a person is feared swept away in the Boyle River in Canterbury this afternoon.
A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to Lewis Pass Rd about 2pm after concerns someone may have been swept into the river.
“This is unconfirmed,” the spokesperson said.
“A Search and Rescue team are co-ordinating the response and a helicopter has been deployed to the area.”
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said crews were notified of an incident at 2pm near the Boyle River Bridge, Lewis Pass Road, Hurunui.
“One helicopter, one first response unit, one ambulance and one operations manager were dispatched.”
