Sealord has confirmed the loss of 70 jobs in Nelson.

It had signalled the possible loss of up to 100 jobs at its Nelson wetfish facility in September, as the company streamlined its operations.

The company has today told the workers their last day will be the 30th of January.

Sealord says the final number of affected staff will depend on how many can retrain and be redeployed.

30 contract workers are also being let go, but their third-party employer is moving them to other work.
