
Civil Defence says there's no tsunami threat to New Zealand, after a major quake near the Kermadec Islands.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre says any waves are forecast to be less than 0.3 metres above tide level - and could still hit other pacific islands.
The 7.2 magnitude quake struck the Kermadec trench just before 11am, about 400 kilometres north of Auckland.
