The waitress at the centre of Ponytail-gate now says she was tricked into telling her story to the mainstream media.
Amanda Bailey's account of what happened to make her so uncomfortable when John Key repeatedly tugged on her ponytail at a cafe, appears in today's Herald.
Her story originally surfaced on the far left website The Daily Blog - on that site this morning, she says she was deceived into talking to the paper.
She met with her employers yesterday under the impression a PR person was listening in on speaker phone, only to find later that person was a Herald reporter.
Ms Bailey says she talked to her bosses because they asked her to clarify that it was John Key's behaviour she had an issue with, not them for failing to make her workplace safe.
She thought she was talking to her employers in confidence ... and her comments have been taken completely out of context.
