The person killed after being crushed by a car at a Wānaka home yesterday was an elderly man.
He lived alone at the Roche St address and neighbours told the Herald he had been there many years.
Police were called to the address at 10.45am.
They said initial indications were the man was seriously injured. They later confirmed he died at the scene.
An investigation into the man’s death is ongoing.
Police could not give any further information about what happened at the address.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said two crews attended.
She said a person was “trapped under a vehicle” and firefighters “extricated” them and assisted St John paramedics at the scene.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson confirmed two ambulances, one operations manager and one helicopter responded to the scene.
