A Wellington woman feared she would be a victim of racial abuse if she stood up to a man on bus yesterday.
Noor Jabr recorded a man racially abusing other passengers she describes as young Indian men in their twenties.
She says the abuse was largely anti-Muslim.
In the video, which has been widely condemned on Facebook, the man is heard yelling 'go back to your country' and uses coarse language.
Being a Muslim herself, Ms Jabr began to fear for her safety.
"It was really scary. I was standing right behind him. I was freaking out. I was thinking any second he could turn around and slap me in the face or say something to me."
