A person has been critically injured after being shot in Auckland overnight. Police are still looking for the alleged offender.
Emergency services were called to Maadi Place in the South Auckland suburb of Papakura after being told someone had been shot about 2.30am, a police spokesman said.
“The person was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Those involved are believed to be known to each other, and police do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the community.”
The alleged offender has not yet been found, the spokesman said.
“Inquiries to locate the offender are ongoing. A scene guard remains in place.”

Hato Hone St John sent two rapid response units, an ambulance and a manager to the shooting, a spokeswoman said.
“Our crews assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition.”
