
A student has been injured in an assault by a fellow student at a rural Canterbury school today.
Emergency services were called to Oxford Area School at around 2pm.
Police say they were "notified that a student had been assaulted by another student at the school“.
Oxford Area School has been approached for comment.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was also called to the scene.
Hato Hone St John said they were notified of an “incident” at 2pm and responded with one ambulance, helicopter, and a rapid response vehicle.
“One patient was assessed at the scene and transported to Christchurch Hospital in a moderate condition by ambulance,” a spokesman said.
