
A person died in the water near Teal Bay on Northland’s east coast yesterday.
Police are yet to release further details but say a rāhui has been placed on the area.
The rāhui extends from the river outlet of Teal Bay to the point of Mimiwhangata and will remain in place until midnight on Friday, October 24.

Police made the notification at the wish of local hāpu, Te Uri o Hikihiki.
“Police, local iwi and hapū express their sincere condolences to the family of the deceased at this sad time,” police said.
