One person has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after a two-vehicle crash south of Christchurch.

Emergency services responded to the crash at the intersection of Boundary Rd and Springs Rd about 12.15pm.

Hato Hone St John took one person to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.

Another person, in a minor condition, was assessed and treated at the scene.

The intersection remains blocked, and motorists are advised to avoid the area and choose alternative routes.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
