One person has been found dead after an early morning house fire in New Plymouth.
Police will now carry out a scene examination alongside fire investigators to determine the circumstances of the fire.
Fire and Emergency responded to the blaze on Trelawney Cres in the suburb of Westown at 2.30am with three fire trucks.
“Sadly, one person was located deceased,” said a police spokesperson.
This morning, Fire and Emergency confirmed two investigators were at the scene of the fire.
They provided limited information regarding the incident and referred further comments to police.
“A scene examination is ongoing at the property, and Police will work alongside Fire and Emergency NZ to determine the circumstances of the fire,” said a police spokesperson.
Hato Hone St John confirmed it responded to the incident, but also referred the matter to police.
