Auckland commuters are being assured they won't encounter "stripper poles" on the commute to work.

Auckland's Party Bus Company provides bus services for parties, pub crawls and school balls, including a "lounge bus" with a dancing pole.

It is contracted to service primary and high school bus routes, and provide extra capacity for Auckland Transport public bus routes.

The company has agreed to phase out the use of the bus with a dancing pole on at least one school route, following complaints from parents.

Auckland Transport said the "lounge bus" has never and will never be used on ratepayer-funded public bus routes.

However, the Party Bus Company may continue to service public routes with other party buses.

Newstalk ZB have approached Party Bus for a comment.
