A Christchurch musician who sought help from a youth health centre is helping to raise funds for a new hub.

The Variety Concert on the 5th of December will raise funds for Christchurch's new one-stop-shop Youth Hub.

Dr Sue Bagshaw is hoping to raise $10 million to build the Youth Hub on land leased from Anglican Care.

Musician Lindon Puffin says youth need somewhere where they can be accepted for who they are.

"Anyone outside the box who looks different or thinks differently and doesn't have that support at home really needs services like this to connect with."

Puffin says when he was younger, a youth hub run by Dr Bagshaw was invaluable.

"It was just a place we could be ourselves and feel valued which was really helpful."

National and local musicians including the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra will perform at the concert.
