Four people have been arrested and charged after an aggravated burglary in New Plymouth.
About 3am on Wednesday, January 28, police were alerted to a burglary in progress at a commercial address on Devon St East.
“Police responded immediately,” said Detective Sergeant Seamus Doyle.
“However, the alleged offenders had already fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.”
Police conducted a scene examination and made initial inquiries, before arresting three youths aged 16-17, and a 22-year-old man.
All four appeared in New Plymouth Youth Court on January 29, with two of the youth due to reappear today and the third set to reappear on February 16.
“They are all facing multiple charges relating to burglary with a weapon and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.”

Some of those arrested have also been charged after aggravated burglaries over the past week, in Whanganui and Tauranga, but police did not specify who.
