Freshwater anglers will soon have four new licence options to choose from.

From the 20th of this month - whether you fish all year round or just want to spend a few days on it - Fish and Game New Zealand says there's a licence to suit.

Don Rood from the organisation says the new Loyal Senior Licence, Local Area Licence, and Short and Long Break licences will give people much more choice.

"That's our slogan - 'nine ways to catch a fish' and we hope that there's something in there that is attractive to people, so that people can choose what is best for them."
