Police have named Neil Hawker, 84, as the man who died after a crash between a car and pedestrian in a driveway in Miramar, Wellington.
Hawker died in hospital on Tuesday after the crash on Maupuia Rd on January 30.
The Herald understands Hawker lived at the property where the incident occurred.
“Our thoughts are with Neil’s loved ones at this difficult time,” said police in a statement.

Maupuia Road is in the Wellington suburb of Miramar.
“Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing.”
The matter is expected to be referred to the coroner.
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, noticed several police cars attended for hours, as well as two ambulances on the day of the incident.
“Me and the wife noticed someone coming out on a stretcher.”
The neighbour did not hear anything from the driveway until authorities arrived.
“I heard all the noise and thought, ‘what’s going on here’.
“It’s normally quite a quiet area, no real issues, people keep to themselves.”
