Two Christchurch National MPs seem to be at odds over the city's troubled Metro Sports facility.
Earlier this week, Christchurch Regeneration Minister Megan Woods sacked the contractor and ordered Government owned Otakaro Limited to take over, after discovering the project was over budget by $75 million.
National's spokesperson Matt Doocey called it hot air and spin - and accused the Minister of stopping progress.
But today National's Nicky Wager, who once held the portfolio, said Dr Woods made the right decision.
"So we spent a lot of time consulting, and a lot of money designing, but we just need to get on with it. I think she's done the right thing changing the type of contract."
Nicky Wagner said the $75 million blow out hadn't happened, but they had to take action to ensure it didn't happen.
