
Politicians are recognising the work of firefighters at events around the country today.
Fifty-two MPs are visiting fire stations in their electorates or hometowns in recognition of International Firefighters' Day.

Fire crews were called to 77-thousand incidents last year -- more than 200 every day.
That included 12-thousand medical emergencies, six-thousand crashes and five-thousand building fires.
They were also called to more than two-thousand severe weather events.
