It's bad news for our waistlines, but good news for anyone with a late night craving for burgers and fries.

McDonald's has launched a trial delivery service in the Auckland suburb of New Lynn today, allowing customers to get food delivered straight to their door.

A similar trial in a limited radius around Glenfield McDonald's will be launched next week.

McDonald's spokeswoman Joanne Mitchell said the company has responded to public demand for choice and convenience.

It follows other initiatives like all-day breakfasts and drive-through espresso coffees.
