A person has suffered serious injuries following an animal attack at a rural Manawatū property.

Police said they were notified of the attack about 2.15pm on Makino Rd in Halcombe this afternoon.

Emergency services responded to the incident and the animal involved in the attack has been destroyed, police said.

Hato Hone St John said they were notified of a farm incident in Halcombe and responded with an ambulance, rapid response unit, and manager.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient in a serious condition who was transported to Palmerston North hospital,” St John said.
