A man is in serious condition after an incident outside a West Auckland mall this afternoon.

Police said emergency services were called to Edsel St, next to WestCity Waitakare, about 2.40pm.

“He has been taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.”

Police are currently in the Henderson area making inquiries to locate the offender, who has left the scene.

“Our inquiries are still in the early stages as to what has taken place this afternoon.

“Anyone with information can contact police on 105 using the reference number P064587277.”

Hato Hone St John said one ambulance, one rapid response vehicle and an operations manager were sent to the Edsel St scene about 2.39pm.

“One patient was assessed at the scene and transported to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.”
