Shock for two friends of a man who drowned in McLaren Falls near Tauranga.
The group was looking for a camping spot with their friend, when he went into a swimming hole and drowned.
Police believe the 25-year-old Aucklander was not a confident swimmer, but friends say he was athletic and swam often.
They say they're gutted by the tragic loss of a happy, jolly and really nice guy.
