Workers being paid the Living Wage might expect a little bit more in their pocket from today.
Living Wage Movement Aotearoa is announcing this year's rate at a special event in Wellington this afternoon.
The wage, which is currently set at $19.25 and voluntary for employers, is calculated by the Family Centre's Social Policy Research Unit. It is around 30% more than the minimum wage determined by the government and enforced by law.
National convenor Annie Newman says it will be positive news for employees on the living wage as it has increased every year since its national inception in 2013.
The announcement is being held at the Capital's first Living Wage printing business Pivotal Thames, and businesses have until the first of July to move to the new rate.
