Ngani Laumape's form for the Hurricanes has seen him bolt into the All Blacks.
He's one of two uncapped players in the 33 strong squad for the test against Samoa and the DHL Lions series.
Laumape, who converted back to union from rugby league at the end of 2015, has surpassed Malakai Fekitoa, with the Highlanders midfielder missing from the squad.
Jordie Barrett is the other uncapped player, joining his brothers Beauden and Scott in the side.
They're the first trio of brothers to be named together in an All Blacks squad.
Dane Coles has been selected despite not having played since March due to injury and concussion and coach Steve Hansen says he's unlikely to be available for the first two Lions tests at least.
Damian McKenzie, Steven Luatua, Elliott Dixon are among the other notable omissions, while winger Nehe Milner-Skudder is also missing as he returns from a long injury layoff.
Liam Coltman, Vaea Fifita, Jack Goodhue, Akira Ioane and Matt Todd are in as injury cover.
